Project manager, Technical writer

§     Designed the entire platform for this non-profit international ecommerce startup (both the Windows client and J2EE server).  The Windows client is an advanced website creation tool that uses XSLT, and synchronizes to the host. 

§     Wrote the Windows helpfile, software documentation, much of the website, and produced the training videos

§     Recruited and led a team of developers from Russia for 7 years

§     Managed the offshore customer support team

Traveled internationally liaising with international development projects, and was one of the keynote speakers at a large UN development conference.

§     Founded a website development and internet marketing consulting company using offshore resources. 

§     Recruited and managed the team, made all the sales calls, and designed an affiliate marketing and referral marketing program that generated sales of $15k/mth in the third year.   

§     Wrote the website, promotional eBook, and extensive proposal writing and contract negotiation

§     Sold the company in November 2007.

Senior Developer

§     Designed and programmed the prototype for the Shipping Refund Tracking System. This is a Visual Basic application that tracks timeliness of shipments by major carriers from the customers' shipping database.  Was 100% responsible for the application design, coding, deployment and documentation from the initial rough concept.

 

1993-1998: MB Foster Associates (http://mbfoster.com)

Senior Developer & Partner

§     Designed and programmed MBF-UDALink, the leading ODBC driver for Hewlett-Packard / Compaq mini-computers.  Designed and wrote the software and user manual, sold it to MB Foster (who then sold it to Hewlett-Packard), assisted in further development and transition to the new development team. 

 

1978-1992: Various employers

Contract Developer

§         Designed and team-led one of the first MLS systems in North America to show photos of houses for sale (this was before the internet); also designed and wrote an electronic publishing system for real estate, which paid for itself in the first three months of operation, because of decreased layout costs. 

§         Was a “natural” programmer, coding sometimes 500 lines a day of Cobol for applications ranging from accounting to inventory control, banking, and real estate.
